Rewind is proud to announce the addition of Portrait® Plasma Skin Resurfacing to our arsenal of the most effective scientifically proven treatments available to fill a void and answer our patients’ most frequent requests. Portrait PSR uses a technology with the ability to go where no laser or radiofrequency was able to, to treat the areas our patients most commonly ask about: generalized fine and deep wrinkles, vertical lip lines and lines around and under the eyes as well as the eyelids themselves- right up to the lash line.

What does it do?
Portrait is for patients:
- Considering laser surgery , face lift or eyelid lift
- Who have sun damage/age spots/hyperpigmentation
- Who have pre-cancerous lesions (actinic keratoses)
- Wanting to reduce the appearance of fine lines and deep wrinkles
- Wanting to tighten skin
- Wanting to reduce acne scarring
- Wanting to improve overall skin elasticity and texture for youthful skin quality they have not enjoyed for years.
What makes Portrait different from other available treatments?
Portrait is completely unique technology, in that it’s not a laser, IPL or radiofrequency, but excited nitrogen gas in “plasma” form, which is able to penetrate beneath the skin without removing the top layer (as with “ablative” lasers like CO2 and Erbium). This stimulates the growth of new skin under the surface, which will rise to the top and replace the wrinkled, sun damaged surface skin, causing it to peel at about 4 days after treatment.
How many treatments do I need?
We have found the results from a single high energy treatment to be so far superior to multiple lower energy treatments that we strongly recommend the single treatment approach in our practice. After all, it’s difficult enough to clear your schedule one time, and shouldn’t you have the most dramatic results possible as quickly as possible?

What should I expect following treatment?
It is our policy to follow up very closely with our patients to monitor their results and recovery and to be available to answer questions that might arise.
The outer layer of skin will brown immediately following treatment and shed at about 4 days after treatment. After that, the redness of the regenerated skin will last for 2-3 days. Shedding may take a little longer at the edges of the treated area. Redness in localized areas may linger slightly in some patients. You will be able to apply high quality mineral makeup one week after treatment.

What kind of improvement can I expect to see?
High energy Portrait treatment results in wrinkle reduction, reduction in pore size, acne scars, actinic and seborrheic keratoses (those waxy brown elevated spots that come with aging), lifting of the brow and sagging eyelids and reduction of the look of fine lines and deep wrinkles over the whole face, including vertical lip lines and crepey, sagging eyelids, while removing pigment, improving skin elasticity and texture and tightening skin. And don’t forget those vertical lip lines and horizontal forehead lines too!
Is Portrait safe?
The results with Portrait approach those possible with CO2 laser, but with NO incidence of hypopigmentation (that waxy, white appearance) or scarring in over 600 patients followed for 5 years.
How soon will I see a difference and how long will it last?
One week after your treatment you will notice healthy, “newborn” skin and a more vibrant, youthful appearance. You will continue to see improvement as collagen remodels for up to one year and possibly up to two!
What does the procedure feel like?
Dr. Mashal is a great believer in making her patients as comfortable and calm as possible during all the procedures she performs.
The procedure involves heating of the skin, therefore, to make you comfortable, Dr. Mashal will administer an oral pain medication and a mild sedative for you to take when you arrive at the office. A topical anesthetic cream will be applied and left in place for 1 hour, after which injectable blocks will be performed to insure your complete comfort.
You will need someone to drop you off and pick you up from your appointment.
Can Portrait be used with other treatments? (Skin tightening, fillers, etc.)
Multi-technology skin tightening, as Rewind is known for, works beautifully to complement the resurfacing achieved with Portrait and can be started within 4-6 weeks of your treatment.
