Calling all Obagi DVDs!
Obagi has stopped making the DVD that tells about the system. If you have one of our Obagi DVDs in your possession, we would really appreciate it if you could return it to us when you get the chance (no questions asked) so that others may borrow it. Thanks!!

Hello fellow Rewinders! After much thinking and a lot of working, I’ve decided to make this newsletter a quarterly, rather than a monthly occurrence. Call me lazy or call me exhausted, but monthly was getting to be too much. It seemed like I’d just written the newsletter and suddenly, time to do it again. So, I hope you will forgive me and let me slide…
First, I’d like to thank everyone for the HUGE turnout at our first anniversary party. I feel so lucky to have gained such wonderful patients and to be able to do what I love to do, the way I want to do it! I can’t believe it’s been one year already, and at the same time, that it’s been ONLY one year. Well, thank goodness none of us are getting any older…
Speaking of getting older…it has recently come to my attention that next year will be my 30 year high school reunion. Several of my old friends and classmates have contacted me and, through Classmates.com, I’ve seen pictures. Everyone looks so old to me! That made me think about how making small, subtle changes like Botox, fillers and skin tightening/resurfacing can keep you looking youthful without making you look “done.” To my mind, you should be able to tell everyone that you are genetically blessed and that “clean living” has kept you young without having to admit to anything you don’t want to and get away with it.

Our Featured Plastic Surgery
Victim is...
Farrah Fawcett

See, there’s nothing wrong with thin lips and some nasolabial fold, is there “before Farrah”?

Heather’s Corner
As we forge on into the hot summer months (not to mention some of the longest days of the year – yikes!), I am reminded why Colorescience’s Sunforgettable Mineral Sunblock is a necessity for any Phoenician. First, the brilliant portable design of Sunforgettable makes it easy for any woman to toss her sun protection into her purse. What’s more the powder-like minerals are made of Titanium Dioxide and Zinc, Sunblock’s gold standards for sun protection and safety. Why are portability and powder-like minerals such important features? Well, let’s remember that we live in the skin cancer capital of the world my friends; and Sunblock, whether chemical or physical, cream or powder, SPF 5 or SPF 85 must be applied every 2-3 hours to remain effective. Last time I surveyed no woman I know re-applies a cream Sunblock (that she typically leaves in her medicine cabinet by the way) on top of her make-up throughout the day. The Sunforgettable Mineral Sunblock allows the sun conscious woman to take her sun protection with her to re-apply throughout the day. And that, ladies, as Martha Stewart would say, “is a good thing.”

Michelle’s Corner
I would like to share with everyone how happy I am with one of our skin care lines by Obagi called Nu Derm. It has transformed my skin on a cellular level; something that is impossible to get from the internet or department stores. After making the commitment and making my way through the first 6-8 weeks, I can’t tell you the number of people who want to know what procedure I’ve had done or how I have such a great glow. Wow! If only I had known about this years ago!
Calling all women’s groups!!! If you have a group (either a formal one or just a group of friends) that you would like me to speak to as a V.I.P. luncheon, please let Michelle know. For hosting, you will receive a free syringe of filler, 25 units of Botox or a laser procedure of your choice!

Commonly asked questions:
The following are among the most common questions I’m asked in consults, so I thought I’d try to address some of them here…
- What is Portrait, exactly? Is it a laser? No. Portrait is not a laser. It is a completely unique procedure that uses plasma energy (i.e. ionized gas) to remove brown spots, fine and deep wrinkles and other signs of photoaging to completely resurface your skin. It can be used anywhere there’s skin (face, neck, chest, hands, etc.)
- How long does Portrait last? In over 600 patients followed for 5 years, no one has needed a repeat procedure.
- I think my friend had something like that, but it had a different name. There is no other procedure like Portrait. It is one of a kind.
- I’ve seen other places advertising Portrait. What’s the difference? We do high energy Portrait, which is a more dramatic one time procedure with more dramatic results and approximately 7 days of social downtime.
- What areas can be treated with fillers (Radiesse, Restylane) in the liquid facelift? The most commonly treated areas are nasolabial folds, lines from the mouth to the chin (marionette lines), hollows under the eyes and cheekbone augmentation, as well as lip volume augmentation.
- Botox is most commonly used to treat frown lines, forehead lines and crows’ feet. What else can it do? One of my favorite uses of Botox is to subtly elevate the brow to open up the eye area. It makes such a huge difference. I do it to myself!
- What happens when I’m “finished” with my Obagi? Just as with working out or treating high blood pressure or diabetes, you need to remain on a majority of the products for maintenance in order to maintain the benefit you’ve seen. If you stop working out, your muscles turn back into mush…same thing.
- Will my brown spots come back if I stop my Obagi? Maybe. If brown spots are your main concern, we recommend continuing with the hydroquinone, although you might be able to scale back to 2-3 times per week.
- Is Obagi still working even when I stop peeling? Absolutely! You will stop peeling when your skin becomes tolerant to the tretinoin component of Obagi, but the benefits are continually occurring under the surface.
